The building, a rare example of Parisian Deco, on the corner of Rue du Temple and Rue de la Perle, fits in an interesting way in the morphology of the Marais neighborhood with its particularly angular structure that defines both the entrance to the building for apartment, and a wider urban space.
From this structural conformation comes the interior project of a free plant, fan shape, for the living area: entering the apartment there are three perspectives, generated by the architecture, on three windows that illuminate the domestic environments.
The three areas are placed in relation thanks to a perimeter project which houses the main functions: entrance at the center, kitchen and library on the sides. The solution of a free and bright plant, allows the owner, actor, singer and theatrical director, to live the space as a personal stage.
Grids of the original windows determine the horizontal alignments of the project and generate a pentagram of shelves on which to run, as notes, various works of art. The flow of paintings and photographs allows the owner to hide parts of the library and the kitchen and favors a display system in continuous movement.
In the central part of this system, corresponding to the entrance door, a wall-drawing by British artist David Tremlett entitled “Music For My Eyes” dialogues with the interior project, with the horizontal elements and with all the other works that slide on metal bands.
The material chosen for the horizontal elements is iron, a rough material, also applied on the doors of the studio and the kitchen, where the slabs have been carefully selected and positioned in order to obtain an effect of continuity with the horizontal course of project determined by the windows.
The deduction of the three perspectives, generating principle on which the whole project is built, is synthesized in the central entrance, where there is a piano, and where the gaze of visitors is led to observe the windows through trapezoidal extrusions, white and suspended, built on the exact perspective of the windows: these are conceptual elements of the project that allowed theatrical viewpoints, always different, on the actors in movement of this domestic representation.
The tables of the house are prototypes of an ongoing project on the spatial coordinates that tends to eliminate the thicknesses; specific for this project their proportions determined by the perspectives on the windows, guideline of the entire interior design.
